Scout Cold Logistics Blog Post Instructions

Hey! Here’s blog post instructions to make news, updates and blog content look awesome for Scout Cold Logistics. Start with your update’s introduction paragraph, and then break it up into headlines and short paragraphs similar to what you see below. Remember to enter your focus keyphrase and meta description below this post in Yoast.

Featured Image Instructions

Use any image that is 1,920 x 1,080 in size, a 16:9 ratio. Choose from the existing media library or drag a photo into this Canva template. Avoid closeups of people in featured photos for best results, as the photo set as the featured photo fills the hero container above the blog post (with a filter, post title, post date and author text on top).

Rename your photo (i.e. 1.22 title of the blog post) and remember to tag all of your images with alt text while uploading them to posts in the media library. If your blog image file size exceeds 1MB, compress it at tinypng.com or compresspng.com before uploading on the website. Most things you pull from a client photoshoot, Unsplash, pexels, or stock sites will be well above the size and need compressed.

Set your image as the featured image in the right hand “Post” column of WordPress and the way this programmed and developed will do the rest and place it at the top of each post, in archives and in our grids of content.

I feel like making a statement here with a pull quote block. 20px spacer blocks are added above and below.

Using Additional Images and Media in Blogs

You can place additional images or even photo galleries throughout your blog post, as long as you avoid wrapping text on the left or right. Full width images are ideal, 1,920 x 1,080.

A Strategy for Blog Post Categories

It is suggested to come up with a list of 4-5 “categories” that all content will fit into to help your strategy, content planning and delivering regularly refreshed taxonomy pages for SEO. Scout Cold Updates is a fallback that can apply to all blogs or any that don’t have a home. Multiple categories can be set to each post, too!

These categories are added and set on the right hand side of the editor under the “Post” column of WordPress. In addition, these categories will be populated on the main blog page above the content grid for people to easily filter and find what articles they are looking for that specifically surround warehousing, leasing, development, capital, or another important topic.

Using Yoast for SEO and Double Checking Your Work

Make sure your Yoast SEO keyword, title, meta description, URL slug, etc. are input in the right hand “Post” column of WordPress or below the post. Do the best you can to get good readability and SEO analysis scores (green smileys). That is not always possible with technical terms and posts.

When you are done, preview your work before hitting publish! Get a second look when you’re unsure. And that’s all for now! Blog design is important and we’re continuously learning and improving our process. Until next time, squeeze the day.
